Botox – Not Just For Celebs!
Botox has been the latest craze in cosmetics since the FDA approved the drug first in December 9, 1991. Celebs where the first to jump on the band wagon and now we have almost everyone on the Botox craze.
Anyone can get Botox now from the avg joe to the celebs, my biggest worry is, “Who is qualified to administer the drug?”
I have seen many advertisements on specials for seriously cheap prices and then I start to think are the qualified?, are they a doctor?, do they know the anatomy of the face in detail? These questions bring us to some thought of going down the road to the local beauty shop to get my 3 month fix of Botox, trying to remember if the person I go to is a doctor or was it the assistant that is now doing it from a room in her house.
Although we have some safety in knowing that Botulinum Toxin Type A (Botox) is not an over the counter drug and you need to have a registered practice in order to purchase the drug. Which I believe it has helped in the correct administering of the drug. Although I do believe that clients should be more careful to who they go to for treatments.
Botox has had some bad reputation over the years as I believe it comes to the skills behind the person doing the treatment. General Practitioner has exactly that a general knowledge of the entire body and it’s anatomy, unless specialized. But a dentist I would say is the best person to do Botox and dermal fillers as they have had 5 years studies on the anatomy of the face and I believe that they would be the next best to administer the drug other that a plastic surgeon.
