Botox or Dermal Fillers: Which Anti-Aging Product Should You Choose?
Botox or fillers, which should you choose? In your anti-aging efforts, it is important to do the research behind every product you choose because there are huge differences in the results, but also in their makeup. One of the most important things to look at is safety before you try anything at all.
Botox injections have been used for quite some time, and they have become quite popular thanks to celebrities who have chosen this anti-wrinkle treatment to have a more youthful appearance about them. While it does have some positive points, it also has its downsides. First of all, Botox is a chemical, one used as a way to exterminate rats. Cosmetic Botox has been found to be safe, however. But, it really safe? The truth of the matter is that we do not know the effect it will have in the long term. That means that if you continue using Botox over the course of several years, we do not know what kind of effect will have on our health.
On the other hand, fillers like Restylane treats wrinkles by adding volume or plumping the area which corrects folds. It is a great product to erase mouth and nose lines, and is also ideal for lip enhancement. It is injected just beneath the skin, and in the case of lip enhancement, directly in the lips. However, the candidate must not have experienced any serious drug allergies, or have had any bleeding disorders. Moreover, injections can not be administered if the individual is suffering from an infection, hives, acne, and other such problems, and therefore should be postponed until one has healed. Side effects are very mild and usually lasts less than a week in the case of nose to mouth lines, and up to 2 weeks in the lips. Bruising may also occur, especially in those over 35. This product is FDA approved and should only be administered by a licensed doctor.Again, as in the case with cosmetic Botox, it is unclear of the long-term effects it will have on a patient.
A patient must weigh the pros and cons of each, and choose the right solution for the given area. For instance, if you are open to both products, you may want to use Botox to correct crows feet around the eyes and the deep lines between the eyebrows. Dermal fillers can do wonders for nose to mouth lines, and lipstick lines.
